The Summer Entrepreneurs program (SE) is a new take on commercialization, initiated by University of Saskatchewan's (USask) unit Innovation Enterprise (IE). It was launched in May of 2019 and yesterday's showcase event marked the end of the first summer of the program.
IE hired 15 entrepreneurial USask students. They teamed up and picked five USask research technologies to work on during the summer. Using the Lean Startup method, being pushed and inspired by mentors, learning all aspects of business and entrepreneurship in workshops and going out talking to people about their technology and business idea made this a busy summer.
156 hours of mentorship
37 hours of workshops & peer to peer critiques
421 market validation conversation
At the end of the summer three out of the five teams in the 2019's cohort are planning on taking their technology and business idea further - bringing new innovations to market!
